Does René Furterer test on animals?
René Furterer does not perform animal testing on any of our products. Our parent company, Pierre Fabre, is dedicated to developing alternative methods to animal testing. Our final product's tolerance and effectiveness are evaluated in-vitro (laboratories) and in-vivo (on volunteer individuals).
Are René Furterer products hypoallergenic?
René Furterer products do not claim to be hypoallergenic due to their high concentration of essential oils.
Are René Furterer products organic?
Organic means a product contains all-natural, non-synthetic substances that are grown without using conventional pesticides or fertilizer, biotechnology or radiation. René Furterer products are not certified organic; however René Furterer has developed internal standards to grow its plants under the strictest conditions which meet the same requirements as our medical drugs. Additionally, as a pharmaceutical company we combine natural ingredients with pharmaceutical ingredients for the best performance and safety.
Are René Furterer products 100% natural?
René Furterer's brand claim is not 100% natural. What René Furterer is concerned with is the production of highly advanced, safe and effective hair care products for the health of the scalp and hair. This is achieved by combining natural ingredients with the latest pharmaceutical ingredients. The main active ingredients, plant extracts, guarantee product effectiveness and are 100% natural, meaning they have not been altered by additives or preservatives.
Are your products safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding?
There are no restrictions against the use of René Furterer products during pregnancy and breast feeding apart from Complexe 5 and hair loss treatments (RF 80, Triphasic and Vitalfan). They are not recommended because of their high concentration of essential oils that deeply penetrate the scalp. However, we recommend that you consult your physician.
Are your products paraben free?
Parabens are preservatives, which are partly used in our products to prevent bacterial contamination, therefore ensuring the protection of the consumer in daily handling of our products. Parabens are legally licensed for cosmetic means and their health safety and security are extensively documented. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR), an independent panel of physicians and scientists that review cosmetic ingredients, found parabens to be safe for use in cosmetics and the FDA states that consumers do not need to be concerned with the use of cosmetics containing parabens. However, René Furterer provides various products formulated without parabens.
Do your products contain sulfates?
Sulfates are surface active agents, commonly known as surfactants that are used as cleansing agents in shampoos. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is the surfactant incorporated in our products to create the lathering effect that helps cleanse hair more thoroughly by removing dirt and oil. Sodium Laureth Sulfate can only act as a skin irritant if you have a predisposition for it. Given the contact time for shampoos is relatively short, this does not present a problem for most people. It has not been proven that sulfates cause color to fade.
