"What I love most about being a stylist
is the experiences I have when designing
for a diverse, international clientele."

"All cultures, all hair, and all people are beautiful and are important to me. The joy and excitement of connecting through Global Beauty, and engaging in everyone’s hair stories, desires, and challenges are what keep me alive and enthused. I’m fulfilled when each client leaves my salon happy, excited and confident. Understanding each person’s hair characteristics, facial, body, and lifestyle are important in order to preserve and promote healthy beautiful designs."

What are your favorite René Furterer products?

I love all René Furterer products, but my newest favorites are the ones catered to curly/thick hair.  The new ACANTHE line is wonderful for unruly curls.  It moisturizes and nourishes hair with avocado oil to create the perfect curls.

My classic favorites are:

Frizzy/Unruly hair – straightening gel (anti-frizz) which smoothes and tames frizz

Short/Piecey hair – modeling paste which creates texture with a matte finish

Color-treated hair – OKARA 2 phase leave-in protective conditioner offers color protection and serves as a moisturizing, weightless conditioner

At home use – ASTERA soothing fluid is used to soothe the scalp and provides immediate relief for an irritated scalp

Biography:

Excellence in Hair Design, Hair Color and Product Knowledge
Educator to Discerning Salon Owners/Designers

Salvatore Minardi  has devoted the past thirty years to perfection in hair color and hair design. His signature approach is centered on his belief that clear communication between the hair designer and the client is essential. Salvatore feels that no salon service can be successful unless the client is totally at ease, involved, and confident that their salon experience will be everything they expect, and more. He is a master at client consultation, and insists that every client be given the time and attention their hair requires to achieve the “look” they desire.

Salvatore was born into a hair dressing family and worked with his father as he honed his skills with other top professionals in the industry. He is fluent in Italian, and continues to study design and language in Italy and France. His musical background, which includes study of classical guitar with some of the most luminary musicians in the world, led him to understand the true meaning of the word “salon”.

SALON: A gathering of independent thinkers with one well-traveled leader, for the sake of creative collaboration.

That is what SALVATORE MINARDI SALON is all about!

SALVATORE MINARDI SALON opened in April 2001, and caters to a discerning clientele comprised of women and men who require flawless hair color and hair design delivered in an atmosphere of warmth, relaxation, privacy and excellence.  The boutique salon is welcoming and relaxed, and offers Manhattan Luxury in the comfort of bucolic Madison, New Jersey. Since 1997, he has been a Founding Council Member and Ambassador for the René Furterer Organization. In that capacity, Salvatore has trained hundreds of salon professionals in both the U.S. and Europe.

As a participating hair designer, Salvatore has had a “backstage pass” to some of the world’s most interesting events:  The Tony Awards, The M.T.V. Video Music Awards, New Year’s Eve at Times Square, The Bryant Park “Fashion Week” Show for Calvin Klein, and VH1 “Fashion Rocks”. He has also worked at numerous events for American Express.

Salvatore's artistry has been a part of the glorious coiffures worn by Beyonce, Cynthia Nixon, Queen Latifah, Kate Spade, Bobbi Brown, Norah Jones, Juilliane Margolis and The Rock.

To his salon work, as well as to his free-lance creations, and salon seminars, Salvatore Minardi brings the passion, experience and expertise one would expect from a true Renaissance Man.

My Styling Tip

  • Step 1

Begin by cleansing and moisturizing this hair type with KARITÉ intense nourishing shampoo and KARITÉ intense nourishing conditioning cream for optimum softness and shine.

  • Step 2

Working on dry hair, use a pencil iron to curl small pieces over the entire head to achieve fullness, then separate them with a comb to create the afro.

  • Step 3

Next, evenly distribute product throughout the hair.  Using styling wax separate and twist small pieces to help create volume and texture, ending with a perfect sheen.

  • Step 4

To finalize this style, use finishing spray to help achieve a flexible, yet controlled, style that lasts for hours.
